Turkey inks deal for Landing Platform Dock for its Navy
The project, in which Spanish shipbuilder Navantia has been roped in as the technology partner, is aimed at designing and building a vessel based on the "Juan Carlos I" warship of the Spanish Navy.
The contract was signed on May 7 during the IDEF-2015 defence exhibition in Istanbul.
Navantia said it will provide technical assistance, including design, technology transfer and equipment to SEDEF for the local construction of the warship, which will be tailored to the needs of the Turkish Navy.
The systems supplied by Navantia would include diesel generators (to be manufactured at Navantia) and the Integrated Control System Platform.
The contract award was announced on December 27, 2013 and after eighteen months of negotiations, has reached the milestone of signing, the Spanish shipbuilder said.
Delivery of the warship is scheduled in 2021.
