The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed quasi-ballistic missile ‘Pralay’ from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha, the Defence Ministry announced Thursday.
The missile was tested at around 1110 hrs on November 5, 2026.
All the test objectives were fully met as confirmed by test data captured by various range instruments deployed by Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, the MoD said in an official statement.
The missile has been indigenously developed by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, along with other DRDO laboratories, while Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of its development-cum-production partners, has produced the system, the Ministry of Defence said in a post on X.
The flight test was conducted in the presence of senior officials from DRDO, representatives from the industry and the Defence Forces, as part of user evaluation trials.
“With this successful test, the induction of the system has become imminent,” the Ministry said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh complimented DRDO, Armed Forces and the industry partners on the successful flight-test.
The missile equipped with advanced technologies will further enhance the technological capabilities and operational preparedness of the military against emerging threats, he said.
“This successful trial marks another significant milestone in strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities,” Singh said in a post on X.
Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Rajesh Kumar Singh congratulated the teams associated with the successful flight test.
