Discovery launch delayed by 24 hours
The final mission of the space shuttle, earlier scheduled for Nov 1, has been delayed by a day after NASA noticed a leak in the spacecraft’s pressurisation system.
WASHINGTON (AFP): The launch of US space shuttle Discovery on its final scheduled mission has been delayed for at least 24 hours until Tuesday because of a leak in a pressurisation system, NASA said.
“We have developed two leaks on the pressurisation system on the maneuvering system of Discovery on the right side,” Kennedy Space Center spokesman Allard Beutel told AFP.
Fixing the shuttle and getting it ready for take-off would take until at least Tuesday, the spokesman added.
The spacecraft originally was scheduled to be launched on November 1.
