Iran to unveil new warships soon: Army commander
The country will showcase its second generation of ‘Jamaran’ destroyers, ‘Sina’ class frigates and a new generation of submarines, Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Ataollah Salehi was quoted as saying by Press TV on Wednesday.
‘Jamaran’ – the first indigenously-built guided missile destroyer of Iran – was launched in February this year. The warship, equipped with a variety of anti-ship and surface-to-air missiles, has anti-submarine capabilities and can defend against ground and air attacks.
Last month, the Iranian Navy had also inducted four new domestically-built submarines of the 'Ghadir' class.
