BERLIN (BNS): Germany has grounded its entire fleet of Eurofighter combat aircraft citing problems with their ejector seats, according to media reports.

A total of 55 Eurofighters operational in the German Air Force were temporarily grounded on Wednesday after the aircraft’s pilot ejector seats were found faulty, a defence ministry official was quoted as saying.

The decision was taken following an Eurofighter crash in Spain last month in which a Saudi Arabian pilot was killed, the Financial Times Deutschland newspaper reported.

The country is working closely with industry officials to find out the problem, the ministry spokesman said, without specifying the timeframe by which the two-seater fighters will be operational again.
