Russia may import armour for military vehicles

PARIS (BNS): Russian military plans to import armour plates for its vehicles.
According to a news report by RIA Novosti, the Russian Defence Ministry will wait for an answer from its researchers before making a decision on acquiring foreign technology for the production of armour for light military vehicles.
"Our researchers have not given us an answer as to whether they are ready and capable of producing this type of armor. If they are, we will make our own armor, but if they are not, we will find ways to acquire Western technology for production in Russia," said Deputy Defence Minister Vladimir Popovkin at the Eurosatory-2010, as reported by the Russian news agency.
Earlier, Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov has said that Russia may purchase light armour or its production technologies from Germany.
