NEW DELHI (BNS): Eyeing a major share in the expanding Indian defence market, leading US defence and aerospace company Boeing will showcase a range of its products at Defexpo India 2010 which kicks off here next week.

Among the products on display will be the F/A-18IN Super Hornet fighter aircraft, C-17 Globemaster III heavy-lift transport airplane, P-8I long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, AH-64D Apache attack helicopter and CH-47F Chinook choppers.

Boeing has offered all the above products to India.

“This is an important year for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in India.

“Many of our products and platforms are currently in competition or under active consideration by the government, and we are looking forward to demonstrating how they will quickly contribute to India's defense modernisation and bring long-term industrial benefits to the nation,” Vivek Lall, Boeing India's country head, said.

While the F/A-18 Super Hornets are contending for the multi-billion dollar medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) deal, the Indian Air Force has also evinced interest in buying 10 C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft from the company.

India has already signed a $2.1 billion deal to procure eight P-8I long range maritime reconnaissance aircraft for the Navy. The first P-8I Poseidon is expected to be delivered by 2014.

Boeing has also offered its AH-64D Apache attack helicopters and CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift transport helicopters in response to IAF's bid to acquire 22 such choppers.
