Saab setting up manufacturing facility for Carl-Gustaf weapon system in India
Swedish defence major Saab has announced it is setting up a manufacturing facility in India for Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifles that will support the production of the man-portable multi-role weapon system for the Indian armed forces. Saab will also be partnering with Indian sub-suppliers and the systems manufactured in the facility will fully meet the requirements of 'Make in India', Chairman and Managing Director, Saab India Technologies, Mats Palmberg said.


United States Air Force's F-35 to make debut at Aero India
The United States Air Force's (USAF) newest fifth-generation fighters the stealthy, supersonic, multi-role F-35A Lightning II and F-35A Joint Strike Fighter will make their debut at Aero India 2023. The F-35A Lightning II from Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska will be on static display.


India rejuvenated defence production sector in 8-9 years: PM Modi
After inaugurating the 14th edition of Aero India at the Yelahanka Air Force station complex on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India has "rejuvenated" its defence production sector in the last eight-nine years and is looking at increasing the export of military hardware from USD 1.5 billion (one billion=Rs 100 crore) to USD five billion by 2024-25.

HAL to display scale model of 'Next Gen Supersonic Trainer' for first time
The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will display for the first time the scale model of Hindustan Lead in Fighter Trainer (HLFT-42), at the Aero India. HLFT-42 is the 'Next Gen Supersonic Trainer' that will play a "critical role" in modern combat aircraft training with state-of-the-art avionics like Active Electronically Scanned Array, Electronic Warfare Suite, Infrared Search and Track with Fly by Wire control system, the HAL said.

India to spend 75 pc of defence capital outlay for procurement from domestic firms: Rajnath
In a significant announcement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said the government will spend 75 per cent of the total defence capital outlay for procurement from domestic defence manufacturers from 2023-24. The decision will mean setting aside of around Rs 100,000 crore for procurement of military platforms and equipment from the Indian manufacturers, he said.

Indian Army looking at procuring around 200 indigenously-built Prachand and LUH
The Indian Army is planning to procure around 95 Prachand Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) and 110 Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) to enhance the profile of its combat aviation wing, Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande said.


Developing critical defence components indigenously: DRDO chief

India in talks with Egypt, Argentina for possible supply of Tejas light combat aircraft
Argentina and Egypt have joined a number of other countries in showing interest in procuring the indigenously-developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas from India. HAL chairman CB Ananthakrishnan said on the sidelines of Aero India-2023 on Tuesday, that India is in talks with both Argentina and Egypt for possible supply of Tejas aircraft.

India is working on the details of indigenous manufacturing of aero engines to provide a new fillip to the aerospace sector and achieve self-reliance, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said. HAL seals contract with Argentinian Air Force for supply of helicopter spares
State-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will supply spares and provide engine repair services to Argentinian Air Force's two-tonne class helicopters. The HAL inked an agreement with the air force of the South American country for extending the services, officials said

Indian Navy shows interest in acquiring Boeing Super Hornets fighter aircraft
Boeing has submitted details to the Indian Navy for assessment about the Super Hornets fighter aircraft produced by the company. Boeing Defense, Space and Security, India business development head, Alain Garcia said the company has handed over the details and the Indian Navy is also interested in acquiring six more P-8 patrol aircraft.


BEL to manufacture Israel's LORA ballistic missile for Indian Tri-services
Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed an MoU with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for domestic manufacture and supply of its Long Range Artillery Weapon System (LORA) for the Indian Tri-services. The state-of-the-art strategic weapon system will be manufactured by BEL, as the prime contractor, based on the workshare arrangement with IAI.


HAL, Safran move forward in partnership for IMRH engine
