US offers enhanced military support to Pakistan

WASHINGTON (BNS): Pakistan has received an offer from United States for expanded strategic partnership, including additional military and economic cooperation.

National Security Advisor James Jones handed the offer, contained in a letter, to President Asif Ali Zardari, a report by Washington Post said.

Besides enhanced military cooperation, the offer extended to Pakistan include development and trade assistance, improved intelligence collaboration, more secure and upgraded military equipment pipelines and an initiative to building greater regional cooperation among Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.

United States will also increase its military and civilian efforts in Afghanistan and there are no plans of an early withdrawal, it added.
