Iranian Navy to fight pirates off Somalia Coast

TEHRAN (BNS): Iran's naval forces are all geared up to fight piracy off the Somalia coast including the Gulf of Aden.

“The Iranian Navy will be active in the Gulf of Aden till the present situation in the Mandab Strait (Bab al-Mandeb) gets secure,” Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the Commander of Iran's Navy said on Sunday.

Iranian Navy is at present in a very good position because it can conduct missions under very intricate conditions.

They have dispatched flotilla of warships off Somalia Coast. These ships will be actively involved in fighting piracy, as reported by the Iranian military sources.

The Iranian Navy, since November 2008, has been performing anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden.
