WASHINGTON (BNS): US Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) has signed a $ 21 million contract with the BAE Systems for the development of software for its naval operational systems.

BAE Systems will develop, maintain, and test software for sonar and other systems on naval vessels i.e.; ships and submarines. They will thus provide IT support to them including in their data storage and web-based documentation.

The contract was given to BAE Systems under the US Navy's Seaport-e-contract (Seaport Enhanced Contract) vehicle.

SeaPort-e enables electronic procurement of engineering, technical and programmatic support services by NAVSEA's Warfare Center community.

The NUWC is a shore command of the U.S. Navy within the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Warfare Center Enterprise, which engineers, builds and supports USA’s fleet of ships and combat systems.

BAE Systems generally deals in the development, delivery and support of advanced defence, security and aerospace systems. It is the world's second largest defence contractor.
