NEW DELHI (PTI): To celebrate its silver jubilee this year, pilots from the Indian Army's aviation wing will embark on a 10-month long heritage expedition across the country in one of its vintage aircraft 'Pushpak'.

"Pushapk was actively flown by the army pilots in the 1965 and 1971 wars while manning the air observation posts (AOPs) along the Indo-Pak border," an army official said here.

The expedition will kick-start from Yelahanka air base, Bangalore on February 13 -- the concluding day of Aero India Show 2011.

Covering approximately 4700 nautical miles and 36 erstwhile AOPs, the expedition would also go to all the existing Army aviation bases across the country.
