STOCKHOLM (BNS): Saab has been awarded a contract for their latest advanced Softkill solution, the LEDS-50 MK2.
The contract from an undisclosed customer amounts to the value of MSEK 48 (R74 million).
The LEDS-50 MK2 provides additional protection to the vehicle and crew by detecting the presence of latest generation laser threats and automatically deploying countermeasures to avoid the vehicle being hit by the threat, a Saab statement said.
Existing customers using Saab Land Self-Protection solutions includes the Royal Netherlands Army that has fitted the Saab laser warning system to their CV90/35 fleet as part of an integral survivability suite.
Development and production takes place at Saab in Centurion, South Africa (Saab Grintek Defence).
