Pakistan Navy ships in Malaysia to strengthen naval ties

ISLAMABAD (BNS): The visit of Pakistan Navy Ships PNS Moawin and PNS Khyber will show the strengthening ties of friendship between the two brotherly nations of Pakistan and Malaysia and their two navies.

The ships will stay in Langkawi to take part in the Malaysian Defence Exhibition LIMA (Lankawi International Maritime Air show) to promote bilateral naval ties from November 30 to December 6, says a press release issued by Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

The High Commissioner for Pakistan, Lt. General (Retd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi said that Pakistan is a regular participant of LIMA. The frequent visits of PN ships to Malaysia shows the cooperation level between the two nations in naval sector.

With the Royal Malaysian Navy the two Pak ships will undertake number of activities which include Joint/Passage exercises on arrival and departure. The ships will be opened for visitors on December 3rd when PNS Khyber will get an onboard reception.

The Defence Advisor for Pakistan High Commission, Commodore Zahid Akram said that second ship attending the LIMA-09 is PNS Khyber. It is the fourth of eight Type-21 AMAZON class frigates. The ship has undergone many changes such as upgradation in its weapons and censors after its Induction in Pakistan navy from United Kingdom.
