KATHMANDU (PTI): Indian Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag will be conferred the title of honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army during his maiden visit to this country next week, a media report said.
Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav will confer the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army to Gen. Singh at a special function, The Himalayan Times reported.
General Singh will begin his four-day visit on November 12 at the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Gaurav Shumsher Rana.
On the day of his arrival, Singh will lay a wreath on the Bir Smarak at Tundikhel following which he will call on CoAS Rana, Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations said in a statement.
On the next day, the Indian Army chief will meet President Yadav and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and visit the Kavre-based Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre, it said.
Singh will also visit Mustang-based army academy on November 14.
Nepal and India have an old tradition of conferring the title of the chief of the army staff by respective heads of the state.
