Lockheed to integrate key component in US missile defence systems

ARLINGTON (BNS): Lockheed Martin has won a $424 million contract from the US Missile Defense Agency for the integration of command, control, battle management, and communications equipment in the country’s missile defence systems.

Under the two-year modification contract, Lockheed will equip all the American ballistic missile defence systems with various sensors and weapons.

The thrust of the new programme would be more on “increasing security, augmenting planner/situational awareness capabilities, handling new and more sensors and weapons systems, and providing more integrated functionality,” Lockheed said.

The latest contract is a modification of the original command, control, battle management, and communications (C2BMC) contract that was awarded to Lockheed in 2002.
