NEW DELHI (BNS): To give a fillip to bilateral defence ties, Indian Army Chief General V K Singh will embark on a four-day official visit to Vietnam on July 26.
General Singh will become the first Indian Army Chief to visit the Southeast Asian nation after 15 years.
During his visit, the General will meet Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh, besides holding talks with that country's Chief of General Staff and the Army Chief, according to a statement issued by the Indian Defence Ministry.
The Army Chief’s itinerary also includes visits to the historically important cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh (erstwhile Saigon) besides holding meeting with various Commanders of Military Regions.
Vietnam and India share a friendship based on common ideals and principles, arising from a significant legacy of historic links.
