TEL AVIV (BNS): Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has bagged a US $9 million contract from an undisclosed foreign customer to provide its ELM-2105 radar-based border protection system.

The ELM-2105 is a lightweight, all-weather, movement detection radar designed to detect, alert and monitor intruders’ movements in protected and selected zones of interest.

An upgraded version of the ELM-2127 radar family, the ELM-2105 is part of the IAI/ELTA's newly developed tactical ground surveillance radar (GSR) family. It has two back-to-back beams, and rotates 360 degrees at an extremely fast speed.

These features enhance surveillance and detection probabilities, on the battlefield and in border patrol.

The new radar system was chosen by the foreign customer following a rigorous testing period, IAI said.
