IAF holds discussion on technology and aerospace power


CHANDIGARH (PTI): Air Marshal Jagjeet Singh, Air Officer Command in Chief, Maintenance Command, Indian Air force on Tuesday said that air power brings about an asymmetric advantage on operations and undoubtedly will continue to play a key role in future operations as well.

He emphasized that cyber space has emerged as centre of gravity which needs protection to wage successful operations in future.

"Air power will continue to play a key role in future operations," he said while inaugurating a joint seminar organised by Maintenance Command with 'Centre for Air Power Studies' (CAPS) at 3 Base Repair Depot, Indian Air Force, here.

The theme of the seminar was 'Technological and Aerospace Power'.

Speaking on the occasion, Air Marshal Vinod Patney stressed upon the requirement to absorb the advanced technology to support the air power.

He also reviewed the security scenario and challenges ahead.

In his valedictory address, Air Vice Marshal Praveen Bhatt, Senior Air and Administrative Staff Officer, Headquarters Maintenance Command emphasized the need to analyse the strategic culture of China to understand the organic culture of offense and defence.

He applauded the sterling efforts of CAPS in drawing attention of military world to the paradigm shift in concept of air power.

The seminar was attended by many senior air officers from Maintenance Command.

Air Marshal Vinod Patney Sarvottam, Director General of CAPS and other fellow officers of CAPS were also present during the seminar.
