NEW DELHI (BNS): Chief Air Staff Air Chief Marshal P V Naik has inaugurated a new air base for Indian Air Force at Phalodi in Rajasthan on Tuesday, a media report said.
The 6th airbase in Rajasthan will serve the fighter aircrafts and helicopters of IAF.
The airfield, located in the centre of the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Bikaner triangle, is an effort to bridge gap in western sectors along the borders of Pakistan.
"The air base located between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur will straddle the distance between the two airbases. The base is ready to undertake all types of operations of IAF," PTI quoted, IAF PRO, Wing Commander T K Singha, as saying.
In the inauguration ceremony a fly past was conducted by Jaguars Mig 21, Mig 29.
Phalodi air base is capable of operating all types of fighter, transport and rotary wing aircraft, it said.
