EADS, Atlas Elektronik to form new JV


BERLIN (BNS): EADS Defence & Security (DS) and Atlas Elektronik (AE) will form a new joint venture ‘Sofrelog Atlas Maritime Security (SA Maritime Security)’ to become a leader in the provision of maritime safety and security systems.

According to EADS, the JV will be benefitted with the long-standing expertise of Atlas Maritime Security and Sofrelog in Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) systems and Coastal Surveillance Systems (CSS). The company will also work with highly skilled maritime surveillance specialists from Germany and France.

SA Maritime Security will address markets worldwide with innovative, reliable and cost effective products ranging from small-scale vessel traffic service systems to high-performance coastal surveillance solutions.

It will also provide solutions for harbour security, port management and information systems and other related radar processing applications.

The JV will benefit from its capability to integrate the latest sensor systems, communications and data processing technologies. It will also invest in cutting-edge technologies and in developing markets for surveillance systems.
