BENGALURU (BNS): In an impressive display of its advanced missile engineering and precision manufacturing capabilities, BrahMos Aerospace, the producer of BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system, is exhibiting the air, land and naval variants of the world-class weapon at the 15th edition of Aero India 2025 being held at Yelahanka, Bengaluru.
A full-scale model of the advanced air launched variant of BRAHMOS integrated on the Su-30MKI frontline fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force is a major highlight during the five-day international event which started on February 10, 2025.
BRAHMOS-A has been successfully integrated on the IAF’s Sukhoi-30MKI strike fighter platform. With its unmatched capabilities, the air-to-surface missile has become the IAF’s most powerful airborne precision-guided weapon capable of undertaking modern air combat operations from large stand-off ranges in day-and-night, all-weather conditions. BRAHMOS-A has established its impeccable anti-ship and land-attack capabilities.
Besides the air-launched missile, BrahMos Aerospace is also displaying the mobile land-based and ship-based weapon systems at the Aero Show. Also in focus is the underwater launch variant of the weapon which has been successfully tested in 2013.
With the incredible BRAHMOS in its arsenal, India has completed its ‘supersonic cruise missile triad’. The tactical weapon with its modern network-centric capability has become a unique force-multiplier asset of the Indian Tri-Services.
Since its formation in 1998, BrahMos Aerospace has achieved many “firsts” for India and also remains at the forefront of the flagship ‘Make-In-India’ programme in alignment with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' vision.
The JV entity between DRDO, India & NPOM, Russia has established a robust “Missile Industry Consortium” wherein a large number of public and private sector firms, including MSMEs, are associated in the design, development and series production of the supersonic cruise missile system. To highlight the indigenous contributions made by several Indian firms, the company is exhibiting some of the critical systems and sub-systems of the weapon supplied by these firms.
In 2022, BrahMos etched its global footprint and entered into the “Make-for-the-World” realm after inking a landmark export contract with the Republic of the Philippines to deliver BRAHMOS shore-based anti-ship missile batteries to the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In April 2024, the customer country received the first consignment of the weapon and associated systems.
The landmark export deal has accelerated India’s aspiration to establish itself as a net exporter of cutting-edge weapons and systems in the world in foreseeable future.
