PARIS (BNS): The French Air Force has received the final upgraded E-3F AWACS radar plane communications system from the Directorate General for Armaments (DGA).
According to French MoD, the 4th upgraded AWACS was delivered to the Air Force on October 7, 2011.
French AWACS is known as true "sentinel fly", and these aircraft are dedicated to the detection, monitoring, control and conduct of military air operations.
In 2008, DGA had awarded a $ 68.83 million contract to Air France Industries for the renovation of these aircraft.
The project is mainly focused on replacing and increasing the capacity of existing resources HF, modernisation and increased capacity in existing V / UHF including new means of satellite communications, replacement of equipment radiolocation, the beacon and flight data recorders, adaptation of the software operational mission, changing the system management communications.
After completing the qualification system of the first plane, the DGA has delivered each of the aircraft on schedule, between early 2010 to mid 2011.
