SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS (BNS): The Chilean Air Force (FACH) recently procured their first four Super Tucano aircraft from the Embraer Defense Systems.
According to an Embraer news release, the contract was announced in August 2008 to deliver 12 such aircraft to the Air Force.
"With the induction of the aircraft Chilean Air Force currently have the most advanced equipment for training its pilots," said Orlando José Ferreira Neto, Embraer Executive Vice President, Defense Market, as per the release.
Embraer will also be providing Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and an advanced Training and Operation Support System (TOSS), covering not only the aircraft, but also the ground support stations.
Super Tucano is a single-engine, stepped-tandem, multi-purpose military turboprop aircraft which delivers both training and operational effectiveness at low acquisition and operating costs.
The aircraft provides in-flight virtual training, and also the superb operational characteristics required for successful internal security operation support and counter-insurgency (COIN) missions.
