NEW DELHI (BNS): BrahMos Aerospace will highlight the outstanding capabilities of the BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system at the Oboronexpo 2014 exhibition to be held from 13-17 August 2014 at the exhibition venue of Transport and Exhibition Complex, Russia (TEC Russia).
The India-Russia JV Company will be displaying BRAHMOS in various configurations at the exhibition.
The development of the BrahMos programme is currently moving ahead according to the approved plan. This universal missile is a precision strike weapon for Army, Navy & Air Force. Indian Army and Indian Navy have already inducted the supersonic cruise missile into their arsenal. The first flight test for the air version of the BRAHMOS missile along with Su-30MKI of the Indian Air Force will take place by the end of the year.
BRAHMOS-Mini will be the next technological breakthrough for BrahMos Aerospace. BRAHMOS-M (Mini) has been envisioned as a more versatile, lethal, flexible, multi-platform, multi-target, lighter missile system capable of arming the existing as well as new-generation platforms of the Indian and Russian Defence Forces, as also those of the friendly nations keen to acquire BRAHMOS as the ultimate tactical strike weapon of choice.
The missile could be integrated with different platforms, including the fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) India is developing in partnership with Russia and also can go in the torpedo tubes of submarines.
Oboronexpo 2014 is an important event attended by top executives of the Russian MIC, offering technological platform for the demonstration of defence, security and high-tech products and services.
The main objective of exhibition Oboronexpo 2014 is to showcase the latest achievements of the companies of the military industrial complex in such areas as missiles and artillery, armoured and military vehicles, unmanned multipurpose complexes, and communication systems.
