NEW DELHI (PTI): Seeking to strengthen military ties, Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh is on a three-day visit to Maldives starting Thursday.
"The visit assumes special significance in the light of improving military cooperation between the two countries in consonance with our growing relationship with Maldives," an Army release said.
The Army chief is expected to discuss issues of mutual interest including enhancing the military capabilities of the Island nation.
"During the visit, the Chief is scheduled to interact with various high level political and military dignitaries of Maldives to include the President, Minister for Defence and National Security, Chief of Defence Force and other dignitaries," the Army release said.
In the recent past, the two countries have had exchange of visits at the senior levels including that by Defence Minister AK Antony is September last year.
