CHANDIGARH (PTI): Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha visited 12 Wing and 3 Base Repair Depot (3 BRD) at Air Force station here.
On his arrival Wednesday, he was received by Air Commodore A K Barik, Air Officer Commanding, 3 BRD and was briefed on the operations and various other activities carried out by this base, a defence release said.
Chandigarh-based 12 Wing, is a premier operational transport base and a lifeline to the northern Himalayan region, it said.
The 3 BRD, Air Force station, Chandigarh carries out repair, overhaul and maintenance of MI-8, Mi-17, Mi 17 1V and MI-17 V5 helicopters.
Presently it is involved in the induction of the state-of-the-art Mi 17 V5 helicopters, it said.
During his visit, Raha addressed all the personnel and urged them to keep abreast with the modern developments and technologies for smooth and better absorption of modern equipment.
The Air Chief underlined the importance of IAFs vision statement "People First Mission Always" and stressed on the need for self reliance.
He urged upon every air warrior to work with full loyalty and integrity towards achieving the organisational goals and personal aspirations in times to come, it said quoting Raha.
