India and the Republic of Korea reviewed bilateral cooperation in defence industries and logistics and explored avenues to further strengthen and expand defence ties at the 10th India-Republic of Korea Joint Committee Meeting (JCM), the Defence Ministry said.

Held on September 29, 2026, the meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on enhancing cooperation between their defence industries and promoting greater engagement in defence production and logistics.

The meeting was co-chaired by Dinesh Mahur, Additional Secretary (Defence Production), Ministry of Defence, and Kim Il Dong, Vice Minister of the Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), Republic of Korea.

Seong Ho Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, and Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Joint Secretary (Naval Systems), Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, also attended the meeting, along with senior officials from both countries.

Representatives of leading defence companies from India and the Republic of Korea participated in the discussions. India was represented by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), while the Korean side included Hanwha Aerospace, Korean Air, Hanwha Systems, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and DS Navcours.

On the sidelines of the JCM, Kim Il Dong called on Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth. During the interaction, the two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and deepening collaboration in defence industries and logistics.

The JCM reaffirmed the close and growing defence relationship between India and the Republic of Korea and provided an important platform for advancing bilateral cooperation in defence production and logistics, the ministry said.
