BEIJING (PTI): China on Tuesday successfully launched a remote sensing satellite that would help the country to reduce and prevent natural disasters, state-run media has reported.

The Yaogan XV remote-sensing satellite was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi province by Long March 4B carrier rocket.

Besides reducing and preventing natural disasters, the satellite will be used to conduct scientific experiments, carry out land surveys and monitor crop yields, state news agency Xinhua reported.
