Air Marshal Aneja is new chief of Maintenance Command


NAGPUR (PTI): Air Marshal Pankaj Aneja on Thursday took over as the new Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the city-based Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Aneja, a decorated officer who has rich experience in maintenance management of aircraft and systems, took charge of his new post at a function at Command headquarters in Nagpur.

After completing his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University in 1978, he joined IAF in January 1980 and was commissioned in Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) Branch.

He is also a Post Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

He is an alumnus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington wherein he earned a Masters degree in defence studies from Madras University, a release from defence PRO said.

Prior to his new assignment, he was the Director General (Systems) at Air Headquarters. The officer has rich experience in maintenance management of aircraft and systems and has held various staff appointments, the release said.

He has commanded an equipment depot and a Base Repair Depot earlier.

During his career, Aneja has held the posts of Director Maintenance Inspection at Air Headquarters, Deputy Senior Maintenance Staff Officer at Headquarters Maintenance Command, Senior Maintenance Staff Officer at Headquarters Eastern Air Command, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Maintenance Planning) and Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Engineering) at Air Headquarters.

In recognition of his distinguished services, Aneja was conferred with the Vishisht Seva Medal, the release added.
