NEW DELHI (BNS): BrahMos Aerospace has awarded Master Sagar Dutta as the winner of "Innovative Ideas in Science & Technology" competition 2012.
Defence Minister, A K Antony, along with Dr. A S Pillai, CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace, felicitated him for his novel concept on "Municipal Garbage Treatment" at a function held to commemorate 15th anniversary of the signing of Inter Governmental Agreement (IGA) between India and Russia on 12 February 1998.
"Innovative Ideas in Science & Technology" - an online competition was hosted through brahmand.com. The website received a total of 14 creative technological ideas from students spread across the country.
An "Idea Evaluation/ Innovation Committee" scrutinised the nominations and gave recommendations for the winner(s) based on given parameters - Uniqueness, Innovation, Realisation, Presentation, and New Technology Contribution.
The committee adjudged and mutually decided Master Sagar Dutta, a class IX student from Sanskriti - The Gurukul, Guwahati (Assam) as the winner for his "Recycle-Reuse and Go Green" concept.
His proposal was based on proper utilisation of municipal garbage and drain water in a very "Eco Friendly, Recyclable and Biodegradable" manner. The concept has been presented along with a working model for separation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.
The idea is beneficial and economical with two major advantages:
(i) Biodegradation - a) biogas and b) production of fertilisers or manure
(ii) Purification of drain water into safe drinking water
Proper implementation of this treatment may prevent the adverse effects of environmental pollution and society will be benefited largely. It will help in maintaining a clean environment.
BrahMos Aerospace on Tuesday celebrated "Aardhik Diwas" - Partnership Day, to commemorate 15 years of signing of the Inter Governmental Agreement (IGA) between India and Russia, for the formation of BrahMos Joint Venture.
