White Knight Corps celebrates its 37th Raising Day

JAMMU (PTI): The White Knight Corps of the army celebrated its 37th Raising Day.

The corps, which looks after the operational theatre of Jammu region, was raised on June 1, 1972 on the banks of river Tawi at Nagrota.

"Since its raising, the corps has grown to become the largest and the most active operationally committed force of the army," a senior army official said on Tuesday.

The corps has to its credit, a large number of troops and its sheer size outweighs many armies in the world, he said and added that its area of responsibility ranges from snow capped mountains, hills, riverine terrain, developed terrain to the plains.

In his special Order of the Day, General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General R K Swamy complimented all ranks on their outstanding contribution in combating terrorism and assisting the administration in ensuing normalcy.
