NEW DELHI (PTI): To review the operational preparedness of IAF, Western Air Commander Air Marshal N A K Browne visited Siachen, Kargil and Leh air base, apart from crucial advanced landing grounds along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.

During his visit to the base camp of Siachen, once the world's highest battle ground where guns fell silent after an Indo-Pak cease fire agreement in 2003, Air Marshal Browne laid a wreath at the war memorial there as a mark of respect to soldiers who died fighting the enemy, a Western Air Command spokesperson said here Thursday.

The Air Marshal also visited the world's highest operational air base at Leh and interacted with Leh Air Force Station Commander Air Commodore K S Gill, apart from meeting Army 14 Corps Commander Lt Gen S K Singh during the three-day visit.

At Leh air base, Browne also flagged off a six-day IAF cycling expedition Leh to Fukche which will cover 260 kms.
