NEW DELHI (PTI): Vice Admiral K R Nair on Monday took over as the Chief of Materiel of Navy succeeding Vice Admiral NN Kumar who has superannauted.
Commissioned on January 1, 1977, Nair is an alumunus of the National Defence Academy and National Defence College.
He has held various appointments at the sea and in 'Repair & Training Organisations' including the appointment of Additional and Deputy General Manager at Naval Dockyard, at Mumbai. Nair was also the Commanding Officer of INS Tunir there.
The Flag Officer was appointed as the Assistant Chief of Materiel (Information Technology and Systems) on promotion to Flag rank.
Meanwhile, in the absence of Navy chief, Director General (Naval Operations) Vice Admiral Girish Luthra and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation and Intelligence) Rear Admiral RB Pandit represented India at Indian Ocean Naval Symposium at Australia.
