THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (PTI): Patience, perseverance and multi-tasking abilities of the women employees in Indian Space Research Organisation have enabled them to have a fair share of the organisation's success, K Sivan, Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), has said.
"A holistic balance, patience, perseverance, multi-tasking abilities, communication and analytical skills have enabled women employees to have a fair share of ISRO's success," he said on March 16 after inaugurating a two-day conference on 'Towards a holistic work-life balance for women' in connection with the International Women's day celebrations.
He also conveyed the women's day greetings from the ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar.
About 300 women delegates from all centres of ISRO are participating in the conference.
S Somanath, Director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, S Rakesh, Director, ISRO Propulsion Complex, P P Mohanlal, Director, ISRO Inertial Systems Unit, M V Dhekane, Associate Director, VSSC and Biju Jacob, Chief Controller VSSC were among those who spoke on the occasion.
Contributions by ISRO women employees in the areas of launch vehicles, satellites, remote sensing, launch vehicle propulsion, managing spaceports, administration and auxiliary services, security systems among others were acknowledged at the event.
The conference had a plenary session by Asha Kishore, Director, Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvanathapuram.
In the technical session, women delegates from various centres of ISRO aired their views on various topics from space technology to gender parity.
There was a cultural programme by the women employees of ISRO and RH200 launch for the delegates.
A facility visit inside VSSC for delegates from outside had also been arranged, a VSSC press release said.
