KATHMANDU (PTI): The Nepalese army and US military will undertake a six-day joint exercise aimed to help strengthen bilateral defence ties.
The joint drill, Exercise Pacific Angel 2014, to be held from September 8-13 in Central Regional Headquarters of Nepal Army at Shaktikhor in Chitawan district, will also be attended by army personnel from Australia, Mangolia and Bangladesh and will focus on medical and engineering sectors.
Thirteen members of the US military have already arrived, and another team of US military personnel are set to arrive in Kathmandu on Thursday to take part in the exercise, a statement by Nepal Army Headquarters said Wednesday.
During the exercise, medical camps will be organised with the help of joint military teams.
The military personnel will also be involved in the reconstruction and maintenance of school infrastructure, under the Engineering Civil Action Programme.
The joint training exercise will help in strengthening bilateral ties between the US and Nepal army, the statement said.
It will also help in facilitating cooperation and coordination among the various military and non-military organisations, the statement added.
