USAF awards $95 mln contract to URS

SAN FRANCISCO (BNS): US Air Force has awarded a $95 million contract to URS Corporation to provide Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) communications and maintenance support for the Air Force 432nd Wing at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada and the 49th Fighter Wing at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

URS will provide communications, operations, maintenance support, design, development and sustainment services to the US Air Force Unmanned Aircraft System Operations Center Support (UASOCS) mission systems.

“This assignment will expand our work in the command and control of remotely piloted aircraft in support of military unmanned aerial vehicle programs. URS currently also provides studies and analysis, engineering, maintenance, contract logistics support, command facilities services for leading UAS systems worldwide and we look forward to continuing to support the military on this programme,” Randall A. Wotring, President of Federal Services for URS, said in a company news release.

Under this program, pilots and sensor operators will be able to get critical data, voice inter-connectivity and video relays which will help them to fly and control UASs from worldwide centers.
