OSHKOSH (BNS): The US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) has awarded Oshkosh Defense a $207 million worth contract for supplying 400 additional MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) to US Forces.
"The battle-proven Oshkosh M-ATV is designed and built to give troops the best combination of protection and mobility on the battlefield," Ken Juergens, vice president and general manager of Joint Programs for Oshkosh Defense, was quoted as saying in the company news release.
The M-ATV is designed to provide exceptional protection and superior mobility for operations on unimproved road networks and rugged off-road terrain in places like Afghanistan.
Work will be performed at the company’s headquarters in Oshkosh. Deliveries are expected to begin in October and be completed by November.
Oshkosh has received orders to deliver more than 8,700 M-ATVs of which more than 8,000 life-saving M-ATVs have been delivered for operations in Afghanistan, the release added.
