KATHMANDU (PTI): Special forces of the US and Nepalese Army will launch joint military exercises and trainings in Nepal's mountainous regions.
The training, to be undertaken in three phases, would also include search and rescue operations during possible disasters.
US Army's C130 aircraft equipped with various training equipments landed here on Thursday to conduct the training programme that began on Friday which would last for a month, according to Nepal Army sources.
The first phase of the joint training programme will take place in Nagarkot, Kathmandu, while the second phase will be organised in Shaktikhor in Chitawan district. The third phase will be conducted in Manchet in Rasuwa district.
These types of joint training and military exercises will not only help promote ties between the two armies but will also help in further deepening and strengthening bilateral relations, Nepal Army headquarters said in a press release.
The training will also enhance Nepal Army's capabilities in handling possible disasters in the future and managing humanitarian work during major disasters in the future in a more effective and efficient manner, the release said.
