TUCSON, ARIZONA (BNS): The US Navy awarded Raytheon Company a $39.6 million contract for Fiscal Year 2012 production and delivery of the AIM-9X Block II infrared-guided air-to-air missile.
The contract, which modifies a previously awarded contract, was announced on Jan. 31 by the US Department of Defence, according to the company statement.
The AIM-9X Sidewinder is an infrared-guided air-to-air missile that has demonstrated capability in the surface-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
The AIM-9X Block II adds a redesigned fuze and electronics along with other enhancements to the AIM-9X Block I.
