VIRGINIA (BNS): US Navy has awarded a cost plus fixed fee contract option valued at $102.7 million to Northrop Grumman Corporation for work on Los Angeles-class, Seawolf-class, Virginia-class and Ohio-class submarines, special mission submersible interfaces, submarine support facilities and related programmes.
"We are excited to continue providing key engineering and technical services for a wide range of submarines for the US Navy," Becky Stewart, vice president, Submarine programs and Fleet Support for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, was quoted as saying in the company news release.
The company's shipbuilding sector in Newport News, Virginia is the prime contractor and will provide engineering, design, configuration management, integrated logistic support, database management and modernisation support.
Work is expected to begin immediately and continue into 2011.
