WASHINGTON (BNS): EADS has bagged $242.2 mln contract for making 45 UH-72A light utility helicopters for the US Army.
EADS North America is a part of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company N.V. (EADS) in Europe.
EADS will also be delivering to the US Army the associated equipments along with it. EADS has already delivered such choppers to the Army three years ago, according to report by the international news agencies.
UH-72A LUH is likely to replace the UH-1H Iroquois and OH-58 A/C Kiowa helicopters. Their main job will be in the logistics and support missions within the USA.
The UH-72A is a military version of the EC145 of the Eurocopter. It can accommodate in eight troops. UH-72A with Turbomeca Arriel 1E2 engines has a maximum take-off weight of 3,585 kg. It can go at a maximum altitude of 5,484m.
