OSHKOSH (BNS): US Army has awarded a $440 million contract to Oshkosh Defense for the delivery of Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) for more than 1,000 Heavy Tactical Vehicles.
According to the company, the construction of the newest configured HET will be completed by June 2012.
The latest Oshkosh HET A1 configuration includes increased horsepower, higher capacity front suspension, electrical upgrades, improved diagnostics and air conditioning standard.
HET is already a part of several military vehicles, such as: Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV), Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) A4 and the Palletized Load System (PLS) A1.
“The production of the HET A1 marks the completion of a series of enhancements made to the US Army’s heavy fleet,” Mike Ivy, vice president and general manager of Army Programmes for Oshkosh Defense, said in a company statement.
