NEW DELHI (PTI): UN Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean Pierre Lacroix met Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat and discussed issues related to peacekeeping, an Army official said on Saturday.
Lacroix was accompanied by Lt Gen Carlos Loitey, military advisor, and Luis Carrillo, police advisor, UN DPKO.
The delegation was on a visit to India from June 28-30 to thank it for its contribution to UN Peacekeeping.
"The delegation interacted with Defence Secretary, Chief of Army Staff as well as Raksha Mantri. They also witnessed an exercise with troops on UN Peacekeeping," the official said.
"An interactive session on contemporary issues related to peacekeeping was also organised with senior officers of Army, para-military forces as well as veterans who were associated with UN Peacekeeping," the official said.
