KOCHI (PTI): UK Navy chief Admiral Sir George Zambellas has visited Cochin Shipyard and shown Indian Navy's under-construction indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant.
The First Sea Lord of Royal Navy Admiral Zambellas, also the Chief of Naval Staff, accompanied by his spouse Lady Amanda Zambellas is on a two-day visit to Kochi from Tuesday.
The Admiral, who arrived at the city from Delhi, also visited various training facilities and simulators in the Southern Naval Command and acquainted himself with the training methodology of the Indian Navy, a release from Indian Navy said Tuesday.
The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral SPS Cheema, had a meeting with the Admiral, on a four-day tour of the country, and discussed professional issues of mutual interest, it said.
The Royal Navy and the Indian Navy has been having regular bilateral exercises at sea called Exercise Konkan since 2004.
Lady Amanda Zambellas had a first-hand experience of the cultural heritage of Kerala through her visit to the Jewish Synagogue and the Folklore museum of Kerala.
