NEW DELHI (PTI): Seeking to enhance bilateral military ties between India and United Kingdom, General Sir Peter Wall, Chief of General Staff of the UK Army Wednesday met Indian Army Chief General V K Singh here.
On a four-day trip to India, which started on May 17, General Wall's itinerary includes meetings with high ranking officials from the three forces.
"The visit assumes special significance in light of enhanced defence cooperation between the two countries. We are also planning a bilateral army-to-army exercise, which will be held shortly," army officials said.
Presently, defence cooperation between India and UK is conducted under the aegis of well-established defence cooperation mechanism, which includes annual meetings between the respective Defence Ministries and also the individual services, the officials added.
"General Wall's visit at this stage will give an impetus to the existing defence cooperation in the field of training and exchange of experts," they said.
