UAE orders AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder missiles from DSCA

WASHINGTON (BNS): Government of the United Arab Emirates has requested a possible sale of 218 AIM-9X-2 SIDEWINDER Block II Tactical Missiles from DSCA under the Foreign Military Sale (FMS) programme.

The total value of the contract is estimated worth $251 million.

According to DSCA, UAE has ordered 218 AIM-9X-2 SIDEWINDER Block II Tactical Missiles, 40 CATM-9X-2 Captive Air Training Missiles (CATMs), 18 AIM-9X-2 WGU-51/B Tactical Guidance Units, 8 CATM-9X-2 WGU-51/B Guidance Units, 8 Dummy Air Training Missiles, support and test equipment, spare and repair parts and other related elements of logistics support.

The proposed sale of the weapons will allow the United Arab Emirates to deploy aircraft to materially assist the US in overseas contingency operations.
