DUBAI (AP): United Arab Emirates state media says a military training aircraft has crashed in the north of the country, killing the pilot.
The WAM news agency reported Monday that the United Arab Emirates air force Hawk trainer went down on a routine training mission in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah.
The northernmost UAE sheikdom is located near the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz waterway at the mouth of the Persian Gulf.
WAM says authorities are combing the site to determine the cause of the crash.
The single-engine Hawk is made by British defense company BAE Systems.
