Technodinamika bags contract of 9 APUs

NEW DELHI (PTI): Technodinamika, a holding company of Russia's Rostec State Corporation, has announced that it has bagged a contract to supply nine new auxiliary power units (APUs) for the Indian Air Force's Ilyushin-76 (IL-76) fleet.

According to the terms of the tender, Technodinamika will supply nine auxiliary power units for the IL-76 aircraft and its modifications owned by the IAF.

Currently, IAF uses 28 aircraft of this type. The IL-76 is a medium-range military transport aircraft.

IAF had recently approved the first two auxiliary power units overhauled by Technodinamika.

The company had earlier won an IAF bid in June 2015 to overhaul 11 APUs for the IL-76 and its derivatives.

Highlighting the 'Make in India' element in the contact, Maxim Kuzyuk, Chief Executive Officer, JSC Technodinamika said in a statement, "In the very near future we are going to open a service centre in India. It will be arranged in compliance with the principles of the 'Make in India' programme, under which aircraft repair and maintenance will be localized in India".

In this case, IAF will be assured guaranteed deadlines and a high quality of performed works.

The value of the bid is not being disclosed at this stage, but winning the tender represents a major step in the transition to a system of long-term contracting between the two countries.

Technodinamika's Aircraft Service Centre was registered with IAF in February last year. This meant the company was able to bid for component delivery, aircraft maintenance, and repair services.
