Sukhoi's 3rd Su-35S fighter starts test flights

MOSCOW (BNS): Russia's Sukhoi Su-35A-3 fighter on Tuesday made its first flight at KnAAPO's Komsomolsk facility.

The aircraft, piloted by test pilot Taras Artsebarsky, took off the airfield of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association named after Yuri Gagarin (KnAAPO), the company said in statement.

Various modes of propulsion and integrated control system as well as stability and controllability characteristics were tested for more than 2 hours. Operation of engines, systems and equipment proved to be flawless, the report said.

After the tests are completed, the Su-35 will be transferred to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Su-35 is a single-seat, twin engined supermanoeuvrability multirole fighter. The aircraft is an upgraded super-manoeuvrable multi-role fighter of the 4++ generation. It employs technologies of the fifth generation that assure its superiority over similar class fighters.
